Sapulpa Public Schools is committed to the health, wellness and mental health of our students and staff. We believe in early intervention to maintain a safe and secure learning environment for our students and to ensure their needs are met.


SPS has implemented a student mental health crisis protocol and updated the school wellness policy. Both policies are approved by the board of education. 

District Mental Health Coordinator Bridget Hailey works with a team of school counselors, psychologists, behavior specialists and contracted CREOKS counselors to identify and assess student behavior, mental wellness, and potential threats or crises. All teachers and administrators are trained to identify behaviors that may necessitate intervention with a school counselor or behavior specialist.

SPS' team of counselors, psychologists, school resource officers, and behavior specialists have completed specialized training to respond to students in potential mental health crises.

In accordance with a governor's executive order issued in June, 2022, all SPS staff is trained and has access to utilize the Rave Panic Button mobile app for immediate incident reporting.

SPS' Wellness Committee, led by school nurse Lori Garden, R.N., also distributes quarterly mental health newsletters to elementary and middle school parents and staff, and secondary students and staff.
