Freaky Friday rehearsal(SPS) -- “A polished, peppy, modern fairy tale” with “up-to-the-minute pop cultural relevance!” - The Washington Post

“A rousing, up-tempo score with stirring harmonies!” - Variety

“Freaky Friday captures the best of great Disney musicals. The catchy, surprisingly deep score by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey is their best work since Next to Normal.” - Buzzfeed

With such high praise in those reviews, how can you not come to see the Sapulpa High School theatre and vocal music departments' presentation of Freaky Friday?! It’s an absolute must-see!

"I promise you will leave with all of the songs stuck in your head, but that's a good thing," said senior Kaylie Moss who is cast as Katherine Blake.

The musical is based on the 1972 novel by Mary Rodgers and the hit Disney films, the most recent of which starred Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan. Mary Rodgers is the daughter of Richard Rodgers of Rodgers and Hammerstein.

"It's just a really good story line. It has depth to it, it's not just this basic musical. There's more to it than a lot of other musicals," said senior Princy Mendenhall, who plays the role of Ellie Blake.

When an overworked mother and her teenage daughter magically swap bodies, they have just one day to put things right again before mom’s big wedding. Freaky Friday is a hilarious, contemporary update on an American classic in which a mother and daughter really see what it is to be a family and experience each other’s lives first-hand, if only for a day.

“I first heard the soundtrack a couple of years ago and really liked it,” said Vocal Music Director Gina Myers. “I knew it would be a great show for our school to do when the year was right.”

The musical includes two acts, seven main characters, and a large ensemble cast. Those components are what helped Mrs. Myers determine this was the year for Freaky Friday.

The musical will have a three-night run at Shaw Auditorium on March 5, 6, and 7 at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5.
