(SPS) - The Sapulpa Junior High Track & Field program has had a good season so far this year.

The 7th and 8th-grade girls have finished in 2nd place at both track meets this season.

They finished 2nd out of 11 teams in Tahlequah, and 2nd out of 16 teams at Bristow last week.

The 9th-grade boys had a 2nd place finish at Tahlequah as well. The 7th-grade boys finished 4th out of 16 teams at Bristow.

This week, the 7th through 9th-grade student-athletes traveled to Okmulgee on Tuesday, and although the official results haven't been posted, coach Jeremy Lusk said the 9th-grade girls and boys teams won their division and the 7th-grade girls, 8th-grade girls, and 7th-grade boys placed second overall.

The 7th and 8th graders head to Kellyville on Thursday.

Coach Lusk said he is proud of the group and is looking forward to the last half of the season, ending with two home meets at the Westside track facility, on April 11 and April 18.

"This group has worked hard, despite some tough weather conditions at practice. They are a great group of student-athletes. I am excited to see what the rest of the season brings," coach Lusk said.
