Tyreese Jones wins Core Value Award

(SPS) -- Senior Tyreese Jones heard a round of applause from his teammates for a different reason than usual on Monday, when he received the October Core Value Award for commitment.

Jones, a running back known for his quickness and ability to outsmart and dodge opponents, usually hears cheers as he makes stunning plays on the football field. In Friday's game against Claremore, Jones ran 99 yards on a kickoff return for a touchdown.

On and off the field, Jones "exhibits excellent leadership qualities," according to his nomination for the Core Value Award.

"Tyreese is a great student and always puts his best effort into everything he does," said Chieftains Athletic Director Michael Rose, who presented Jones with a plaque.

The award is given each month to the student-athlete who best exemplifies the values of Sapulpa Chieftains Athletics - character, humility, commitment, integrity, self-control, mental toughness, team, responsibility, honor, and service.

The winner is selected after nominations are submitted by the coaches and reviewed by the athletics department.

The Core Value Award is sponsored by Tier One Lawn. Winners of the award receive a QuikTrip gift card courtesy of Tier One.

Congratulations, Tyreese! Way to be #ChieftainStrong!
