An increase in the number of positive COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people in Creek County has been
reported by the Oklahoma State Department of Health. The number has grown from 24.4 to 46.1 this week.
This increase moves our school operations into Orange Level 2. This DOES NOT automatically move us to Distance Learning. We will be in-person next week and then break for Thanksgiving.
We are aware that other school districts have moved to Distance Learning. We are considering doing the same. We will make a decision about Distance Learning that is in the best interest of our students, staff, and community. The decision will be determined based on several factors including but not limited to the number of students and staff in isolation and/or quarantine, as well as the rising number of cases in the county and city. If we must transition to Distance Learning, we will announce it as soon as possible to give everyone time to prepare.
Within Sapulpa Public Schools, there are currently 20 positive cases of COVID-19 (12 students, 6 teachers, 2 support employees). That is a slight decrease from last week. Unfortunately, the county is continuing to see a dramatic increase in its positive numbers.
Throughout the school year, we have reminded everyone to do your part to help stop the spread of COVID-19 in order to keep our schools open. We are urging you to do your part. Wear a mask. Stay 6 feet from others. Don’t attend large gatherings where you cannot spread out. We need your help so that our schools can continue to stay open.
We will remain in Orange 2 through at least Nov. 20th. As a reminder, Orange Level 2 is triggered when cases reach 25.
Thanksgiving break is Monday, Nov. 23 through Friday, Nov. 27.
