More than 1,500 pieces of art exhibited at SPS art show

(SPS) - Sapulpa Arts will host a reception for the Sapulpa Public Schools Annual Student Art Exhibit on April 24.

The reception, open to the public, will be held at Sapulpa High School in the old gymnasium between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The exhibit will feature more than 1,500 entries created by approximately 600 Sapulpa Middle, Junior High, and Senior High School students.



Categories of the artwork include:

Pencil
Colored pencil
Paint
Pastel
Mixed media
Pen and ink
Watercolor
Printmaking
Sculpture
Photography
Ceramics

Awards to be presented include:

Best of Show
Judge’s Choice
Outstanding Senior Artists
First, Second, Third, and Honorable Mention awards will be given in each category by a panel of local artists and art enthusiasts.

Exhibit viewings:

Wednesday, April 25, 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Thursday, April 26, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

The public is welcome to the Wednesday, Thursday viewings but must check in at the office to receive a guest pass.

The exhibit is coordinated by Sapulpa High School art instructors Candice McClanahan and Jolene Martin; Junior High School art instructors Kelsey Hale and Carmen Taylor; and Middle School School art instructor Allie Crawl.
