What's Inside

What's Inside?

The Inside…

Ms. Rhoads’ Personal Development students completed a very introspective project, recently.  They formed their bodies using tape and then had to identify what things could be seen if someone could actually see behind the physical appearance.  Students focused on both the positive and negative components of what’s inside.  Once they finished identifying the words and placing them in their bodies, the class wrote a personal essay, highlighting what they learned from this activity.  Ms. Rhoads commented that she hoped students gained empathy for themselves and other students through this exercise, not to mention granting them more practice with their writing skills.  This project is a great example of how SMS teachers incorporate creativity, real-world learning and collaboration all at once.
