Bartlett Academy Principal is Roger Johnson; Dad, husband, principal, teacher, business owner, artist, and musician. Mr. Johnson grew up in a small town in Southeastern Oklahoma, Hartshorne. Graduating in 1989 with 69 others, he had honors of Student Council President, Captain of the Basketball Team, and Salutatorian of his Senior Class.
Mr. Johnson began college at OSU Okmulgee, majoring in commercial art and continued there for 2 years. He later transferred to Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton and graduated in 1992 with his Associates Degree in Art Education. He then began his next step with college at Northeastern Oklahoma State University in Tahlequah, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts to become an art teacher in the fall of 1993.
He had his first teaching interview here in Sapulpa, and was immediately hired the fall of 1994. Through his teaching years he became very active with coaching his sons in little league sports activities and inspiring students with music and arts.
After 12 years of teaching junior high and high school art, Mr. Johnson finished up his Masters of Educational Leadership at Southern Nazarene University; and was hired as assistant principal at Sapulpa Middle School. After working there for 3.5 years, he was given the opportunity to be assistant principal at Holmes Park (the new elementary that was opening in 2011).
In July of 2016, Mr. Johnson was named the principal at Bartlett Academy. He plans to bring his love of music and arts to Bartlett Academy.
