Sapulpa juniors take ACT test at high school

ACT test April 12 regardless of walkout status
Posted on 04/10/2018
SAPULPA PUBLIC SCHOOLS - Attention juniors, and parents of juniors.

The ACT test is Thursday, April 12 at the high school, regardless of the teacher walkout situation. This test is a requirement for all juniors. We will provide transportation for the juniors via our normally scheduled bus routes.

The doors will open at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast being served. Testing will begin shortly thereafter. Following the completion of the test by all students, we will provide lunch before leaving for the day. Breakfast and lunch are free.

Our bus drivers will leave the school at 2 p.m. and drop the students off at their bus stops at the completion of the testing. However, students are not required to ride the bus. Parking will be available in the front and back parking lots at the high school with no assigned parking. Students should enter the building through the main front entrance or main back entrance.

We are offering an incentive to come in and take the test Thursday, instead of on the make-up date later in the month. Each junior who comes in and takes the ACT will get his or her pick of a free parking pass or free athletic pass for the 2018-2019 school year.

What should you bring with you?

1. You will need your charged Chromebook
2. ID if you have one
3. ACT approved calculator if you have one (calculator policy below)
4. Pencil (optional)
5. Bottle of water (optional)
6. Snack for the break between test segments (optional)
7. Do not bring a book bag

Here are a few tips as you prepare for your test:

1. Answer every question. Your scores on the multiple-choice tests are based on the number of questions you answer correctly. You will not be penalized for guessing. It is to your advantage to answer every question even if you must guess.

2. When time is called on any test, lay your pencil down immediately and do not mark or alter any ovals on the test or continue writing the essay. If you do, you will be dismissed and your answer document will not be scored. ACT writing test tip: You may plan your essay on the unlined pages provided. They will not be scored. Only your writing on the lined pages of the answer document will be scored.

3. If you regularly use a calculator in your mathematics work, use one you're familiar with when you take the ACT math test. Just make sure you're aware of the ACT calculator policy: http://bit.ly/2eLzpb6

4. Dress comfortably! Consider dressing in layers, so you'll be comfortable no matter what the room conditions are.

5. ACT science test tip: Refer to the scientific information in the passage when answering the question and note conflicting viewpoints in some passages.

6. The ACT English test is a 75-question, 45-minute test that measures your understanding of the conventions of standard English. Here are several free sample questions to help you prepare: http://bit.ly/2CVnClH

7. Here are several free recorded videos by expert instructors to help you prepare for each subject test on the ACT: http://bit.ly/2BEmbqI

We hope to see you Thursday morning.
