Soccer brackets out; Chieftains face BA in playoffs

Sapulpa Chieftains 12th win of the 2019 season(SPS) - The record-setting season for the 12-3 Lady Chieftains soccer team continues with the state playoffs.

The team is matched up against Broken Arrow, the defending state champion, on Tuesday, April 30 at 12 p.m. at Kirkland Activities Complex, 808 E. College St.

The Lady Chieftains finished third in district play (5-2) and set a school record with their 12th win, a 10-0 shutout of Shawnee on April 12. Prior to this year, the team's high was 10 wins in a season.

The single-season goal scoring record was also broken this year. Junior Sara Arundell broke her mom's record of 16 goals from back in the 1990s with 21 shots hitting the back of the net.

The second round is May 3, followed by the semi-finals on May 7 and the state championship game on May 10 or 11.
