FFA members in Washington, D.C.(SPS) - How are you spending your summer break?

For three of our FFA members, they’re attending a conference on leadership in Washington, D.C.

Sydney Dobbs, Billie Ann Jervis, and Dalton Lee left Sunday to spend the week at the Washington Leadership Conference.

There, the students will learn the four tenants of the conference’s curriculum in an effort to become a more engaged citizen who can make a positive difference in their community.

The four tenants are based on Me, We, Do, and Serve.

Me focuses on the person identifying his or her strengths and passions and combining them to meet a need.

We targets the need to bring people together for a common goal.

Do is dedicated to advocacy.

Serve is a day when the conference attendees participate in a service project.

Sydney said she is using the curriculum to devise a plan to increase Agricultural Education in the elementary and middle schools. She hopes to present her plan this coming school year.

The three are in D.C. through Saturday before they make their way home. You can follow their journey on the Sapulpa FFA Chapter Facebook page.
