Stormie Ramsey and Sydney Krehbiel in Yukon(SPS) - If you haven’t had the chance to get out and take in a cross country meet to see our runners in action, you should.

They’re doing a great job and collecting medals along the way.

Last week our teams headed to Yukon on Thursday and Kiefer on Saturday.

In Yukon, our varsity girls team had four medalists and finished fourth out of 11 teams. Stormie Ramsey, Sydney Krehbiel, Leona Crowl, and Demi Ernst finished in second, third, 10th, and 23rd, respectively.

Coach Debbie Williams likes how steady the girls were in Yukon and during the season.

“We were pretty happy with what we saw,” said Williams. “We consistently have our top four (runners) scoring, and it seems we have a different athlete placing in our last scoring position each week. It will be interesting to see who claims that position as we start to prepare for the end of the season.”

On the boys' side, Mason and Evan Quinton led the way with ninth and 10th place finishes. Overall, the team was sixth out of 15 schools.

Due to homecoming, the varsity will be without a few runners as they travel to Edmond on Oct. 5 to preview the state course.

The Junior High team took a small group to Yukon and the girls grabbed another victory, this time competing in a 2-mile race, their first of the season.

Stailee Heard remained undefeated with a time of 12:05 and finished nearly five seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. In all, seven girls finished in the top 25 to medal - Taylor Bilby, Jasmine Brown, Katie Stoneking, Joyce Stoneking, Brigid Henderson, Hannah Hurt, and Heard.

The boys finished fourth and were led by AJ Jernegan who finished second overall. Jaxson Lary also finished in the top 20 and medaled.

Jocelynn Collard led the 6th-grade girls and finished in the top 10 as she ran her fastest mile of the year. In the 7/8 grade division, Lindsey Dennison returned from injury and finished eighth in the 2-mile and received a medal.
