(SPS) - Let's end the year on a really high note.

Our students, led by Sapulpa High School Student Council, raised more than $4,000 for a local family whose house burned down.

On Friday afternoon, STUCO members handed over a $4,015 check to Yvonne Randall. Her son Colton is headed to Sapulpa Middle School in the fall as a 6th grader.

Randall met with students Anna Dinelli, Macy Hill, Abby Boren, and teacher Mrs. Burnham to receive the check and she was overcome with emotion when she saw the amount.

"It's amazing how kind people are," said Randall. "There are good people and y'all are some of them."

The money was raised through several fundraisers during MAD Week in early May. Events included: hat day, ripped jeans day, an 80's themed dance, early lunch, and a dodgeball tournament

MAD stands for Making a Difference.

Randall's house caught fire in the middle of the night back in February. Her house and car were a total loss, but everyone in the family was able to get out safely.

Dinelli just completed her junior year and is the incoming president of STUCO. Hill and Boren both graduated and are going to Northeastern State University and Oklahoma Baptist University, respectively.
