Winners announced for district Inventors Showcase

Inventors Showcase(SPS) - What a night for the little inventors we have across the district.

The students who placed in their elementary schools’ Inventors Showcase advanced to the District competition on Tuesday night.

More than 30 displays were set up in the Washington Administrative Center Gymnasium on Tuesday. Earlier in the day, judges came in and talked to each inventor about his or her design. The students had to discuss their idea by explaining how their innovation would solve a problem in their everyday lives.

There were contraptions such as a doggie door with brushes on each side that would clean off a dog as it passed through. There was a device that covered door handles to make them softer for those times when your hand hit them while playing indoor basketball on a hoop that hangs over the door. There was a device that claimed to help pick up dog poo. And many more.

The judges tallied up their scores and by Tuesday evening they had their winners. In front of the gym packed with parents, these are the students who walked away with the highest scores.
