See You at the Pole at Jefferson Heights Elementary(SPS) -- It was a beautiful morning for students, staff, parents, and guests who gathered at school flagpoles on Wednesday.

They gathered to take part in See You at the Pole. The voluntary event is a prayer rally where students meet at the school flagpole before the school day begins to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school, and nation.

At the Sapulpa Junior Senior High campus, approximately 21 students and staff formed a big circle to take part in singing led by senior Chase Carr. After the singing, senior Emma Castleberry spoke to the group about how they could spend the next few minutes in silent prayer or reflection.

“Pray for the country, the safety of the country and everyone in it. Pray for the school that this whole year goes well,” she said.

At Jefferson Heights Elementary, First Baptist Church Sapulpa youth pastor Cris Lujan led off the rally by talking to the group about not being anxious, especially in regard to the pandemic.

“I’m gonna pray first and then I wanna give you guys a chance to pray. Whoever wants to pray, just jump on in there,” said Lujan.

Just outside the main entrance to Freedom Elementary, a large, socially-distanced, masked group also gathered to celebrate the day.

A couple of students took the mic. One girl spoke about the students and asked for a safe school year.

“Please just help us stay in school and not have to go to distance learning,” she said.
