High School annual dinner theatre rescheduled for Dec. 10

Theater students(SPS) -- It’s that time of year when the Theatre and Culinary Arts departments get together for the annual dinner theatre performance.

This year’s production has a title that may take longer to say than the actual show takes to watch: Miss Polly’s Institute for Criminally Damaged Young Ladies Puts on a Show.

That is a mouthful. As is dinner that evening.

Culinary Arts students will prepare beef enchilada casserole, rice, beans, salad, and brownies.

The performance is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 10 at the Woodlawn Theatre*. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The show will start shortly thereafter.

Miss Polly’s Institute for Criminally Damaged Young Ladies Puts on a Show is a comedy about Miss Mylenbush, the semi-hysterical head of the theatre department at Miss Polly's Institute for Criminally Damaged Young Ladies. She is about to put on the greatest tragedy ever written: Hamlet. However, her actors are a bunch of teenage girls teetering between delusions of grandeur and criminally insane behavior. When her actors revolt against her autocratic direction and decide to stage the play their way, disturbing hilarity ensues.

Tickets for the evening are $10 and can be purchased from Ms. Linder and her students until Dec. 8. Contact Ms. Linder for reservations, but tickets will not be available for purchase at the door.

*If the Woodlawn Theatre is still occupied by the school district’s administration on Dec. 10, the performance and dinner will take place at the High School Commons.
