Coffee bar coming to high school Commons

Foyer outside Commons area(SPS) - I’ll have an iced caramel macchiato, please.

That’s an order you expect to hear at your local Starbucks but it’s also an order you may hear next year at Sapulpa High School.

The second phase of the Commons renovation was approved by the Board of Education on Monday night, and that second phase includes a coffee bar.

The first phase was the Commons area itself. The drab colors, wallpaper, old chairs were all painted over, removed, and replaced beginning back in November and continuing through today. The “Strong” part of the Chieftain Strong mural was painted this week and all that remains is the touch-up work on the artwork.

On to Phase 2.

The foyer, between the Commons and hallway, will be the location for the coffee bar. It will include soft seating, as well as high-top tables and chairs. Here is a look at a rendering of the preliminary plans.

Commons preliminary plan

The coffee bar counter will be on the north wall where the water fountains used to be. It will be stocked with snacks and of course, a variety of different coffee drinks that will be made right there on the spot.

The work on the project will begin in the coming weeks and be completed during the summer.
