High School Commons upgrade taking shape

Commons(SPS) - Wow. Just wow.

The Commons at Sapulpa High School doesn’t look like the Commons you’re used to seeing. It looks like a completely different area.

It kind of is.

Gone is the wallpaper. Gone are the holes and blemishes in the walls. Gone are the old chairs. Gone are the drab, dull colors. Gone are the garbage-bagged water fountains.

Now, the room is fashioned with vibrant colors, artwork, three new high-top tables complete with USB charging ports, 24 bar stools, and nearly 200 new chairs. Even the trash bins are new.

The work began during the Thanksgiving week break and continued while we were away for winter break. But then came issues out of our control that stalled the renovation.

Government shutdown. Snowstorms in Wisconsin. Broken-down trucks in Kansas.

Those are in the past though and our installers arrived Wednesday with the new tables, chairs, and artwork.

There’s still more to be done such as graphics to be painted and the coffee bar, but for now, the Commons is one cool Chieftain Hangout.
