Joan the Girl of Arc(SPS) - More than 50 schools are participating in the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association One-Act Play competition, and that includes Sapulpa.

Students in the Performance Theater class will perform Joan the Girl of Arc Friday, Oct. 12 at Bixby High School.

"It’s Joan’s story from being spoken to by the saints to becoming the leader of the French army and winning the 100-year war against England," theater teacher Becky Braswell said.

We are one of 18 6A schools competing at three sites. Sapulpa will compete against Broken Arrow, Bixby, Owasso, Edison High School, and Muskogee. Our students are the final group to take the stage. They perform at 2:45 p.m.

A one-act play is any published single act play or part of a full-length play or screenplay.

The students have only 45 minutes to set the stage, present the play, and clear the set. The emphasis of the contest is based on the acting ability of the students in the cast and how they perform before an audience.

Three judges will assign points on three criteria; acting, directing, and technical. Acting is scored 0 to 50 points while directing and technical are scored up to 25 points. The play with the highest sum of points scored is the winner.

The judges will also recognize the 10 outstanding acting performances during the competition.

Good luck to our students!
