Posted on 09/14/2018
(SPS) - The Sapulpa area United Way campaign kicked off Friday morning with a breakfast for our community partners before they headed out for their Day of Caring activities.

Throughout the next month, there will be fundraisers across the school district, and in the community, to bring in money to help support agencies such as Caring Community Friends, The Salvation Army, Creek County Youth Services among others.

Last year, the Tulsa Area United Way served thousands of people every day in a six-county region, including residents of Sapulpa.

According to TAUW, 14,306 Sapulpa residents received help which represented a total community investment of $455,591.

Here’s a breakdown of more numbers from last year’s campaign.

More than 345,000 pounds of food were distributed to individuals and families in the Sapulpa area by Caring Community Friends.

463 survivors of domestic violence in Creek County, including children, received services from Domestic Violence Intervention Services.

2,059 Sapulpa residents were connected to vital social services by the 211 Helpline, operated by the Community Service Council.

4,030 Sapulpa students regularly visited Boys and Girls Club programs offered by The Salvation Army.

96 percent of participants in LIFE Senior Services’ Adult Day Health Program remained in their homes, avoiding nursing home placement.

1,004 homeless individuals received health care from Morton Comprehensive Health Services.

More than $3.9 million in health care costs were saved by avoiding emergency rooms.
