New teachers welcomed to Sapulpa Public Schools

(SPS) - The teachers became the students today.

At least that was the case for nearly 40 teachers who are new to the district for the 2018-19 school year.

It was New Teacher Orientation day at the Woodlawn Annex.

Superintendent Rob Armstrong opened the day welcoming the newest members of the team and thanking them for choosing our district and for choosing education.

Thirty-five teachers were in attendance and they heard from many different members of district and site administration. Each teacher was introduced by their principal and from there they heard from Assistant Superintendent Johnny Bilby, Finance Director Kenda Terrones, Director of Instructional Design Donia Doudican, Director of IT Joe Slitzker, Sapulpa Police and School Resource Officer Phil Diehl, and many others.

Orientation is a way to introduce the teachers to the district's policies and procedures and well as help them become acquainted with some of the many people they'll be working with this year. And it's not a one-day event. They'll be back at it Thursday and Friday before attending the Back to School assembly for Sapulpa Public Schools employees on Monday, Aug. 13.

Keep an eye on our Facebook page. We'll introduce you to these newest educators in the coming days.
