Important dates, times for beginning of school

(SPS) - It feels like yesterday when the final bell rang to close out the 2017-18 school year.

And just like that, summer break is almost a thing of the past.

As we get closer to the beginning of the 2018-19 school year, here is a list of dates and times of upcoming events. This isn't a complete list and some of the dates are still TBD. We will update this as soon as the details are determined.

First Day of School

ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

Meet the Teacher (4 p.m. until 6 p.m.)

Aug. 6 - Liberty STEM
Aug. 14 - Freedom, Holmes Park, Jefferson Heights

CHROMEBOOKS

No student under the age of 18 will be issued a device without a parent/guardian signature on the Chromebook Insurance Agreement and the Student Chromebook Care Agreement. Students should read and be familiar with the Student Chromebook Handbook which explains responsibilities, guidelines, and more.

SAPULPA HIGH SCHOOL

Students will receive their Chromebook, schedule, locker assignment, parking space at the high school between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on the following dates:

Aug. 8 - Seniors
Aug. 9 - Juniors
Aug. 10 - Sophomores

A Student ID badge will be introduced this year. Students in 8th through 12th grade will be issued a badge that includes the student's photo and grade.

SAPULPA JUNIOR HIGH

Aug. 9 - Rookie Camp for 8th graders between 5:30 and 7 p.m. at the Shaw Auditorium at the high school. Paperwork for Chromebooks will be handed out but not the actual Chromebooks.
Aug. 10 - Ninth graders to receive schedules and Chromebooks between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. at Shaw Auditorium.
Aug. 14 - Eighth graders to pick up Chromebooks between 3 and 6 p.m. in Junior High library.

SAPULPA MIDDLE SCHOOL

Aug. 7, 8, 9 - School Zone Camp. This three-day camp is for incoming 6th-grade students transitioning from elementary school. Price of the camp is $20 per student. The camp is not required. Chromebooks and Schedules will be available for pick up for 6th-graders attending camp.

Aug. 9 - Chromebook and schedule pick up between 4:30 until 6:30 p.m.

IMPORTANT DATES - FIRST SEMESTER

Aug. 30 - Burning of George, district and community pep rally, between 7 and 8 p.m. on the Woodlawn Annex lawn.
Aug. 31 - Professional Day, no school for students.
Aug. 31 - First Varsity Football Game at Collins Stadium versus Edison. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
Sept. 3 - Labor Day, no school for staff and students.
Sept. 28. Professional Day, no school for students.
Oct. 11 and 15 - Parent/Teacher Conferences
Oct. 17 - Fall Break, no school for staff and students (Liberty has Professional Day for teachers)
Oct. 18 and 19 - Fall Break, no school for staff and students.
Nov. 19 through 23 - Thanksgiving Break, no school for staff and students.
Dec. 19 - Professional Day, no school for students.
Dec. 20 through Jan. 4 - Winter Break, no school for staff and students.
