District employee Ann Pfeiffer wins Hero Award

(SPS) - This is one of those stories that makes you smile from ear to ear.

Sapulpa High School Blue Rock Cafe assistant manager Ann Pfeiffer was presented with the Norma Wilson Hero Award at the School Nutrition Association of Oklahoma conference Thursday.

Ann was nominated by fellow employees for her service to others, including her dedicated friendship and assistance to a former employee of Sapulpa Public Schools Child Nutrition department who lost her vision a few years ago and had to retire.

Ann helped the former co-worker organize her home so she could live there despite her vision loss. She takes her to the store, helps with organizing her finances, helps make sure her insurance bills are correct, among other tasks. Ann has even taken her on vacation and always brings her to the district’s "lunch lady" events.

The announcement that Ann won the award came as no surprise to Sapulpa Public Schools Director of Child Nutrition Nancy Sitler.

"Ann has always been an employee who goes above and beyond to make sure she follows the many rules and regulations imposed on school food service programs by USDA. She is the first to organize food drives during the holidays for those in need, and she is a wonderful friend," said Sitler.

"I think that SNA of Oklahoma got it right when recognizing Ann as a Hero. Ann does all of these things because it's the right thing to do, not because she wants attention for herself."

The Norma Wilson Hero Award is named after the former Child Nutrition Director at Coweta Public Schools. The award is presented to one state association member each year. Past winners review nominations and select the new winner.

Congratulations, Ann. You are a shining example of our district and what it means to be Chieftain Strong.
